Frequently Asked Questions

What is a manufactured home?

Manufactured homes fall into many different categories

  • ADU (accessory dwelling unit) - What we like to call the “inlaw suite”. These are smaller units located on the same lot as an existing single-family home.
  • HUD - Built in an offsite factory to meet HUD code, permanently affixed to a metal frame and shipped to your build site. The home and metal frame then gets set and anchored to an engineered slab. Wheels are removed from the frame and sent back to the manufacturer. HUD homes adhere to the federal HUD code.
  • MOD - Built in an offsite factory, placed on a metal frame carrier and shipped to your build site. The home is then lifted from the carrier via crane to permanently affix it to the foundation (crawlspace or basement). MOD homes adhere to local state build requirements.
  • Mobile Home - Predecessor of today’s manufactured home. Officially the name changed following the HUD Code requirements in 1976. Many people still use the term even though the mobile homes of yesteryear bear little resemblance to the manufactured homes of today.

What is the difference between a manufactured home and a stick built / site built home?

In most cases, the only difference is that manufactured homes are assembled in a factory and shipped to your build site on a trailer. Most Adrenaline Homes are built with:

  • 2x6 exterior walls
  • 2x3 or 2x4 interior walls
  • OSB (Oriented Strand Board)
  • Drywall throughout

Why should I buy a manufactured home instead of a stick built?

Manufactured and Modular homes are:

  • Built to the same (or higher) standards as stick built
  • Fully built in days, not months
  • More cost effective
  • Less wasteful

Don't manufactured homes depreciate in value?

Due to the stringent nature of the HUD code and our manufacturers' high standard of quality materials, modern manufactured homes retain their value like never before.

Why don’t you just display list prices?

We can build you a home for $50,000 or $500,000. It all depends on build site, utility costs, home size, home options, etc. so it really is impossible to advertise one list price to accommodate every individual’s needs.
